Staggering Costs

Upgrading just the UK’s Social Housing so homes have an Energy Efficiency Rating of (only) by 2030 is estimated to cost £70 Billion5.

If those costs reflect what private homeowners might expect to pay, then costs for modernising British Homes is somewhere in the region of £530 Billion.

Ends that don't meet

Specifically in the Social Housing Sector, the UK Government has mandated that £35B of costs are met by Housing Associations, Local Councils and Landlords6.

But … Standard & Poors forecasted Social Housing Sector borrowing will grow to a total debt of £107B by the end of 20237 – more than 61% of assets in the sector (£174.4B8).
