EFA tackles many problems outlined in the UK Knowledge Transfer Network’s Horizons Toolkit.

(The relevant KTN Horizons issues are in brackets.)

EFA’s local energy projects displace greenhouse gases (1. climate change) emitted by fossil-fuel-burning power plants (5. non-renewable resources, 9. pollution).

We do this by adding smart energy systems to existing buildings (7. Land use).

EFA projects will make use of renewable energy (6. renewable resources) to provide affordable energy (23. income, 30. energy) to community members.

Financial benefits attached to a project’s sustainability targets mean we can provide equitable investments (19. equity) that stack multiple sustainability benefits.

EFA’s established Distributed Energy Projects will also mean infrastructural growth.

As well as a way to install new energy technologies, EFA projects will help develop local networks as people engage in projects (20. resilience, 21. empathy, 24. mobility).
